What a Great Year!
What a great year our Encino Park Robotics club has had. We have build robots, solved problems and competed in two very challenging competitions. The students participated in the Texas Computer Educators Association Robotics contest for the first time this year and were the only North East Elementary School to participate. Of the four teams that went two were called back to the state competition. The rest of the team will be participating in the North East Expo at Churchill High School on the same day . The free inventions unit has been a big hit and all of our teams are deep into designing the perfect invention to solve a world problem. This should be a fun Day for the students and the sponsors. WE have really enjoyed this group of students and hope they will come back next year to help us with next group.
We are very thankful for Andrew, our Tejeda student helper who has come every week to help mentor, program and problem solve with the group. He has been a great asset to our group.
We are also very appreciative of our outstanding parent helpers. Mr. O’Brien has volunteered his help and his resources for the team. He made the teams jump drives to store their programs and plans. We are very confident in our robotic skills because of Mr. O’Brien.
Mr. Pike has been and tremendous asset to the team this year. He has provided kits and batteries for the team. His expertise and patience has been the reason his team is going on to state.
Dr. Laura Chenault has been a major player in the team helping and providing expertise and another set of hands and eyes for each of the teams.
We are very thankful for our teacher sponsors as well. Ms Craig brings patience, knowledge and expertise to the robotics program. Without Ms. Craig this program would not take place.
Mr. Shelby and Ms Herrera have been a great addition to the team this year. They are knowledgeable and always ready to pitch in and help a team. Ms Herrera’s team won the most elegant robot at Gear Competition this year.
We are also very happy with our great group of students . Thank you parents for sharing them with us.
